Referrals can be made by anyone supporting a young person, the family or by the young person themselves.
A referral form must be completed in full and can be obtained by contacting the Young Carers team.
Please contact us if you have any questions or would like to discuss a potential referral.
- It is important to make sure that you have discussed making a referral with the young person being referred. Our experience shows that when referrals are made without the young person’s cooperation then they are less likely to engage in the Service.
- Consider whether the young person meets the criteria of being a young person providing significant and substantial care, or whether another service may meet their needs.
- The Young Carers Service is not an emergency statutory service and if there are any concerns for the young person’s wellbeing or safety then this should be referred to the appropriate Children’s Social Care department.
- The Young Carers Services is committed to joint working and information sharing in order to safeguard vulnerable children and young people.
