Sussex Strings Concert
On Sunday 20th November Sussex Strings held a concert in aid of Care for the Carers.
Sussex Strings is a group of local musicians who get together to play a vast repertoire of string music and they preform two concerts a year always in aid of local charities. We here at Care for the Carers were delighted to of been the chosen charity for this recent concert.
The concert was held at Trinity Church in Willingdon and those attending enjoyed a lovely afternoon of classical music performed by some talented local musicians.
The concert programme featured Sinfonia X in B Minor Mendelssohn, Concerto Grosso No. 6 in A Minor Handel, Serenade for Strings (finale) Tchaikovsky, Crisantemi Puccini and was finished with a beautiful rendition of Hallelujah in memory of Leonard Cohen. The concert was followed by tea, coffee and a wonderful selection of cakes and £365 was raised in total for Care for the Carers.
We want to say a big thank you to Sussex Strings and everyone who attended the event for their kind donations.
On Friday 28th October 7 colleagues from Hastings Direct digital marketing team walked from Eastbourne Pier to Hastings Pier to raise money for Care for the Carers. It took the team 6 hours to walk the 16.1 miles from Pier to Pier and a whopping 37,000 steps. They were lucky with the weather on the day with sunny skies and mild temperatures they were able to enjoy the beautiful scenery along the way. So far they have raised an amazing £639.80 and you can still donate to the team through their just giving page here. We would like to say a big thank you to all the staff who took part on the day and Emily Taylor who arranged the event, the money raised will help Care for the Carers to continue to support unpaid carers across East Sussex.
Sainsbury’s Old Town Eastbourne
On Saturday 8th October staff at Sainsbury’s Old Town walked for 12 hours to raise money for Care for the Carers. They set up a treadmill in store and took it in turns to each walk for 30 minutes with some taking to the treadmill more than once. Between them they waked 45 miles, burnt 6320 calories and raised £430. We would like to say a big thank you to all the staff involved and with more fundraisers planned with the Sainsbury’s old town team we are really looking forward to adding to the total. Keep an eye on our Facebook and Twitter to see what else they have planned and come along and support them!
