On Monday 20 February 2017 the Worshipful the Mayor of Hastings, Councillor Judy Rogers, cut the ribbon that officially opened the new Information Centre at Unit 43, Priory Meadow Shopping Centre, Queens Road, Hastings, next door to the Age UK East Sussex charity shop.
This exciting venture sees two local charities; Age UK East Sussex and Care for the Carers working in partnership to support the residents of Hastings and the surrounds. Open from 9.00am to 5.30pm this free, easy to access drop-in service, provides information, advice and guidance for older people and unpaid carers. Drop in or call to get help on benefits advice, housing issues, health and social care matters, filling in forms, utility bill enquiries and NHS hearing aid batteries. Specialist one to one appointments will be set up to help carers with practical and emotional advice including; counselling, understanding carers’ rights and techniques and tips on taking care of a loved one.
Jennifer Twist, Care for the Carers’ CEO, said “It can be incredibly hard for both older people and carers to get the information they need, so we are delighted to be working together to bring this new resource to Hastings town centre.”
Age UK East Sussex Services Director Cornelia Dietze, said “This is an important opportunity for Age UK East Sussex and Care for the Carers to work together to meet the needs of the residents of Hastings.”
