On Tuesday 15th Match 2016, eight carers from across East Sussex travelled up to Westminster to talk to our local MPs about the challenges and realities of being an unpaid carer, accompanied by Care for the Carers’ CEO, Jennifer Twist, and Strategic Partnerships Manager Teresa Flower.
Carers met with Caroline Ansell (MP for Eastbourne and Willingdon) and staff representing the five other East Sussex MPs. They shared their stories, discussed their varied caring roles, and received an assurance that their points would be raised with the minister.
Tamsin Peart, Strategic Commissioning Manager (Carers), and Barry Atkins, Head of Strategic Commissioning (Older People & Carers) also attended in order to support this important and useful meeting.
A full report from this event will follow shortly.
