Are you a carer who would be happy to tell others your experience? If so, it would be great if you would share your story with us and help in raising awareness of the highs and lows of being an unpaid carer.
We would like to know about how you feel about being a carer, how it affects you, how it benefits the cared-for person, and perhaps even hear about a “day in your life”.
There are many reasons why you, or someone you know, may wish to share their story. What we know is that by highlighting the reality of day to day life sharing your story can make a big difference to other carers and to those that are making decisions about how services are developed and delivered.
Don’t forget – you don’t have to talk about everything! If you want to highlight certain elements of your caring role, or leave some bits out which are more personal – that’s absolutely fine.
On Friday 17th July, from 1pm – 4pm in our Carers’ Centre at Highlight House, Kate Glover will be on hand to help you to share your story in whatever way makes you feel the most comfortable.
There will be question sheets to help you to structure your thoughts if you wish to use them and audio/video equipment available if you wish to record a piece to camera or just talk out your thoughts. Nothing will be made public or published without your explicit consent.
Below, you can see an example of how one local carer has chosen to share his story. You can do it on camera, by audio recording, free-hand writing/typing, or even just answering a structured questionnaire!
Get in touch via email at firstname.lastname@example.org or phone us on 01323 738390 to let us know if you’re coming, or if you have any questions about the event.
